The pineapple debacle......

A few weeks ago I got to go shopping with The Dr's wife, and The flip flopping mamma. While we were out and about we went to a Crate and Barrel. I have a confession to make...I've never been in a Crate and Barrel. I LOVE me some kitchen gadgets, but I'm too much of a cheapskate to pay more than $5 for anything lol. But, while there I spied a pineapple cutter for $10. I hemmed and hawed and drove my shopping companions crazy but finally decided to buy the dumb thing. Boy am I glad I did! Seriously, it has become one of my fav kitchen gadgets!


To add some madness to my life (cuz I really don't have enough to do *rolling eyes*), I decided to put it to the test. This week a local store had fresh pineapples for .89 a piece!!!!!!!! And well...I bought 10 (yep, 10). So I figured, I would capture this debacle on film in case there is anyone else out there that has never heard of a pineapple cutter. I mean seriously, HOW have I lived without this thing for this long?!?!?!?

Here they are in all their glory

First you chop off the top

Then you center the cutter over the core of the pineapple

Then you twist till you get to the bottom of the pineapple and pull. I also juice the pineapples at this point because there is a lot of fruit left inside.

Then, run your knife down the cutter every inch or so and you're left with perfect chunks! So 5 freezer bags of chunks and 2 quarts of juice later, my family is gonna be eating a LOT of pineapple :)
