Anyway, I did ok (kinda lost count of rows on the bottom, but I think I got it right). Then it came time to pick up and knit the stitches around the rectangle. After watching a very short video online (I had forgot what Rachel showed me ;0P ) I gave it a whirl, not too bad.
Then came time to "knit in the round." This did not go so smooth my first few rows. In fact, I was convinced the circular needle was my arch nemesis. But after a few rows things are going much better!
I do have a few complaints tho, and maybe its just my needles. The transition from cord to needle has an odd "kink" in my opinion, and the stitches tend to get caught up on it which is a real pain. Also, because of the kink, it tends to twist the stitches around so I'm constantly turning it to keep it straight. So all you knitters out there can leave me a comment and let me know which ones you use and if its me or the needles! lol
Now the next dilemma...do I keep this bag, or do I give it away? My original intent was keep it, 100%....but, my sisters birthday is in April and she would also LOVE these colors! Plus if I give it away, I have a reason to buy more yarn and make another one! lol (you've created a monster Rachel!)
So here is the pic of my glorious first project (can't wait to post the "finished" pics! :o):

Wow, you've really gotten a lot done! Good for you!
Don't feel bad about the circular needles. Knitters tend to like/dislike certain brands, and I for one have never been a fan of that particular type. My yarn always got caught at the join between the cable and the needle.
Can't wait to see how it progresses, and great job with your new blog!
Hey, let me know if you can come over sometime during the day next week. I won't be teaching as much because a lot of my kids are gone (spring break), so I've got all of Tuesday and Wednesday off. Lynn J. might be coming over, too.
Pretty yarn! I made a big booga bag for my Mom quite some time ago, I remember feeling sad about felting all that knitting that seemed to take forever lol ;) As for knitting needles, I really love Inox needles. They are my fav's above all. Rachel is right, all knitters get that certain brand that they love best over time. BTW, I came over to your blog by way of Rachel's blog :)
